This movie takes the fight club theme to another level, in that it incorporates elements of real life Mixed Martial Arts . It's a very interesting concept, and the eyecandy is definitely present, in the forms of Sean Faris and Cam Gigandet (and their awesome bods). True fans of MMA though, may be left with something to be desired... Capoeira in MMA? Nevertheless, I won't make any premature judgments at this point. But when it comes to fight movies, generally the rule is to lower your expectations...

Is this really MMA?
Imagine there was a bowl... and in that bowl let's say there was a movie called 'Fight Club '. Now add to that bowl a dash of 'The Covenant ', stir it with a few tablespoons of 'The Karate Kid ', and finally let it simmer with a little bit of hipness that say you might find in a movie like Save the Last Dance, The Fast and the Furious, Stomp the Yard or any number of "cool" movies aimed at the highschool to college-aged crowd (i.e. the of boy meets girl, boy gets in trouble, boy gets out of trouble, boy gets girl formula)... Mix all these together, and you'll basically end up with Never Back Down .
