Presenting the would-be messiah of an ailing General Motors, the 2011 Chevrolet Volt... a fully-powered electric car that according to GM's (arguably astounding) claims, manages to run 230 miles to the gallon (based on city driving)....
Volt vehicles will be sold with portable plug-in chargers that you can hook-up either in a home wall socket, or in a dedicated 240v unit. Couple this with GM's promise of only paying $2.75 for electricity to travel 100 miles, and you can imagine just where all this enthusiasm is coming from ... Just think of it as a giant Ipod... that you can sit in... and look really cool while doing so ....
I'm not exactly the biggest eco-nut (to be honest, the environment doesn't really come high in consideration when selecting a vehicle at a dealership)... but the prospect of not having to hand over my hard-earned money to oil execs is really hard to ignore . Anyhow, you can read up more on the 2011 Chevy Volt over at Wired's Autopia blog.
