Anderson assesses the merits of 'teabagging'
Teabagging is real, it's here, and you better get used to it!...
... The movement is in full swing... bobbing back and forth from coast to coast
... And apparently teabaggers have united to send a message to the President loud and clear... they're not gonna take it sitting down
...Ok, so yeah, I think I'll take my head out of the gutter for a minute. But can you blame me? I guess if a respected journalist like Anderson Cooper of CNN can let a few teabag jokes slip, then there's no harm in having fun a little fun
... Who'd have thought the most conservative members of this country would gleefully promote teabagging... and enjoy every minute of it. Guess you really can never judge a book by it's cover I suppose

Job hunting in a bad economy?
I'm gainfully employed at the moment... I'm grateful for my job, and I'm happy thus far in having managed to avoid the misfortune (*knock on wood
*) of winding up as one of the several hundred-thousand each month involuntarily forced back into the job market... That said, I have in fact voluntarily been looking for work these past couple of weeks... basically taking away from my free time blogging somewhat (I'm sure you guys might've noticed
)...

I just feel like it's time... time to move onto bigger and better things with hopefully a higher paying salary than this first-job-out-of-college position that I'm currently drudging to daily. It's time to move on, but the economy has literally gone to hell
... and therein lies the dilemma.
I don't know, maybe I should just be grateful I can still get up in the morning and go to work... as opposed to sitting full-time looking for a job online

Jon Stewart skewers CNBC
What a sad state of affairs we've arrived at... that in this country we've reached the point where comedians have to be the ones exposing the self-serving media for being exactly what it is... self-serving. CNBC is perhaps a prime example just such a case... where (supposed) 'economists' have been playing cheerleaders for a team that in essence turned out to be to be the progenitors of this current economic crisis. What a sad state of affairs indeed.
That said, I've noticed Jon Stewart has really been at his best lately. When he's mad he's great, but when he's outraged it seems he really doesn't hold back
... Then again, there's a lot to be outraged about nowadays so who can really blame him...

Who is this... Obama...?
This President of ours... who exactly is he, this "man" we've come to "know" and "admire" as President Obama? How did he get here? Where did he come from? And what are his ultimate goals?... This charismatic yet mysterious politician who we're now hailing as the 44th President of these United States...So what's the conclusion? I guess if you're a charismatic/popular figure, then odds are better than not, you're either the anti-Christ, or the reincarnation of Hitler... (never both at once though
).... Interesting
... Never underestimate the potential for comedy within the midst of stark raving lunacy
...
(*removes hat*)... Excuse me for a second while I place this tinfoil on the counter... Ok, where was I... oh yeah
. So seriously, who is President Barack Obama? Well, apparently some 'brilliant' minds have come up with a couple of theories that might shock you (perhaps even disturb you somewhat). The Daily Show investigates...

Best. Inaugural. Photo. Ever...
Change has come to America... Or at least it came about 4 days ago. And New York photographer David Bergman was there on that (soon to be) historic day to capture this breath-taking panoramic shot from the press rafters... a 1,474 megapixel view of President Obama's inaugural address...
Absolutely amazing. This view itself is a compilation of 200 separate shots taken by a Canon G10, and combined image by image over a 6 hour period to create a single/massive 2 gigabyte tiff file. The end result almost gives a feeling of hovering over that crowd of 2 million listening to the president speak
. So far I've spotted former President Bush, and Secretary of State Clinton... but I'm having a little trouble spotting Waldo... (darn those red, white and blue stripes
)... You can read more on David's amazing photography on his blog.

Heads up guys!
A wise man once said... "Thou can gageth the soundness of one's nation by how many airborn loafers one's head of state must evade whilst traveling abroad"... It's hilarious how they call throwing shoes the 'ultimate arab insult'. As though if some random person in the west started hurling shoes at you in a store it'd be ok
... President Bush has some moves though. He's a lot faster on his feet than peopele give him credit apparently. And yes, although I may not support him in the slightest, I also don't support his returning to the states with a red shoe imprint across his face. Let's be thankful that girl above wasn't recruited, cause she looks like she might have hit the mark

The Fundamentals were not sound...
Say you had a financial adviser you were willing to entrust with your monetary decisions... And say that financial adviser told you 6 months to a year ago that heading into 2009 the stock market would be hovering around 16,000 and going up. Looking back in hindsight 6 months later and after analyzing the wild inaccuracy of your adviser's prediction, would you still trust any advice coming from that 'expert'?

What if that same financial adviser went further and told you 6 months to a year ago to put your hard-earned money into Merill Lynch, Bear Stearns, or Washington Mutual... 6 months later after your 'expert's' advice turned out to be 100% inaccurate again, would you still refer to that person for future financial decisions?...

There's a difference between an 'Economist' and a 'Pundit'... and personally I think this video should be used as a disclaimer for the entire Fox 'Business' team

Tough old son-of-a-gun...
With the Democratic nomination all but locked up, the fight is already gearing up between the Democratic party's young upstart and the Republican's tough old son-of-a-gun... Now I realize McCain's a war hero and all, but at his age forgoing secret service protection did seem somewhat of an extreme. Leave it to the Onion to take such small detail (in McCain's eyes) and run away with it

Circuit City 'repairs' costs new Civic owner $12,000
This is what I call a nightmare scenario... buying a new car, attempting to hook it up by replacing your dashboard with a new navigation system... and ending up with what you see above. This story is the exact reason why, should I ever decide to finally take the plunge, and purchase GPS system for my car, i'll be looking into getting an external unit
...
I'd imagine somewhere along the line, there'll be a lawsuit and a hefty settlement involved in all this...

Emo riots sweep Mexico City
Probably one of the most bizarre tales I've ever read... but apparently the truth is stranger than fiction. Emo's have literally come under attack this past month throughout Mexico by rival punk and 'rockabilly' (wtf?) groups of teenagers. The groups of rock subculture have really been going at it throughout the country, with Mexico City standing at the epicenter of it all.
Personally, I really had no clue the emo subculture even existed in Mexico, let alone was under threat by rival groups of 'hardrockers'... Interestingly enough, at the center of all this is the underlying issue of homophobia in Mexico; as in the emo subculture is being equated with homosexuality to a certain degree, making it a threat to the other more 'macho' groups, if you will. Insane really
... the Wired blog covered more on this story a few a week or so ago, you can read up on the rest of the madness and counter-madness here...

217 Dead in special report security lapse...
Although I realize some might still perceive this to be in bad taste, I just felt I had to acknowledge the good people over at The Onion for their success in masterful satire. Just hilarious... and yes it's always somewhat disconcerting when reporters choose to create a story where there is none, all the while inadvertently injecting themselves into said story.

Ok, I swear this'll be the last...
Ok, I swear this'll be the last video I post on youtube's news and politics editor, Steve. The video itself has no real bearing on the current race forthe Democratic nomination (it's kind of dated by a month or two, as you may have noticed)... but I just found Steve's eyes totally captivating in this clip... The guy is too freakishly handsome, he's gotta be aware of how distracting it is from the job he's trying to do
... (or maybe not, eyecandy tends to attract a few 100 or so more viewers I suppose).

Obama Girl's plea to Hillary: Cease and Desist
A clip featuring Obama Girl's newest video plea urging Hillary Clinton to stop the attacks and drop out of the race. I couldn't resist posting this one, seeing as I approve of this message and whatnot ... (that and the fact that the tune's really catchy
). Somehow I'm guessing Obama's girl's plea might be falling on deaf ears with regards to Madame Clinton though. Apparently there's already rumblings amongst anonymous DNC operatives that she's planning on implementing the 'Tonya Harding ' option. In case you may not recall, Tonya harding was responsible for ordering hitmen to club her figure skating rival, Nancy Kerrigan, in the knee-caps prior to the 1994 Olympics in Lillehammer. Whatever the case, that option doesn't sound too good for Obama. With several more months of party in-fighting, the Democratic civil war goes on, and the blood on the left continues to spill... will they ever learn?

This guy's so cool
Very awesome clip I found while surfing on youtube. It's in response to a speech given by Oklahoma state representative Sally Kern a few days back, where she basically went on a rant decrying homosexuality as being a harbinger for the end of modern day western civilization, and noted that gays were 'worse than terrorists'
. Apparently her life is in some sort of mortal danger from having people who don't walk, talk, dress, think and pray like her... shocking indeed. I thought this guy's response was pretty much on point... very cool and level headed individual to say the least.

For shame Mr. Governor, for shame...
I'm so embarrassed for this state. Watching Governor Spitzer go down has not been a pleasurable experience by any stretch. How can a man who's done so much for the state, worked so hard to rein in Wall Street, and made a name for himself as a the quintessential paragon of ethics in New York politics... destroy his career over an escort call-girl ?! (a whore if you will...). Shameful doesn't even begin to describe his actions with regards to his wife and kids. Cheating for ten years, spending $80,000 on hookers, and using one of your closest friends' name as your alias... a campaign contributor who's not only known you for 20 years, but is also the President of a hedge fund consulting group... Sorry Mr. Spitzer, you've crossed the line so far, you've pretty much gone off the map.
Is thiswoman really worth $4,000, a family, a Governorship, a possible indictment, and loss of a law license?
Is this

I try not to fall victim to partisanship
But the current 'Commander-in-Chief' (if you'd like to call him that), makes it really hard to stay neutral. President Bush hasn't heard that gas may reach $4 a gallon? Is he serious? If there was ever an archetypal example of the type of President who should have been impeached, this was it. How can you have a

Mitt Romney's ungraceful exit...
So as you may have already heard, former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney dropped out of the race this week after a very poor showing on Super Tuesday's primaries. Apparently at his final speech at CPAC , urging the conservative base to rally around the heir apparent front-runner for the GOP, he... in not so uncertain terms... went on to label Democrats as appeasers, and denigrated one of our closest allies in Europe. Suffice to say, comedian and Daily Show host John Stewart took him to task on his divisive and unwarranted comments.
I think it's safe to suggest this country can finally breath a sigh of relief, knowing that this man no longer threatens us with having to look at his face in the oval office for the next 4 to 8 years

One of the most insulting questions...
I love seeing a rhetorically condescending question being turned on its head
...
Fox News can get bad sometimes, but this is low... even for them. Honestly, how can you ask a question regarding 'electability', and only aim it at one candidate in a debate? Especially with Fred Thompson and Rudy Giuliani both standing there; the former lost both Iowa and New Hampshire to Ron Paul, and the latter barely even beat him in New Hampshire . What Fox did was tantamount to trying to sway the public against a candidate. Even worse is the fact that they edited out this part of the debate from the re-broadcast... I can't believe this type of bias passes as media objectivity in America, in 2008.

Congratulations in order...
The doorway to history in this country has just opened ever so slightly further. He might actually win after all... just maybe.
Gotta feel bad in some respects to Hillary though. Her plan to simply waltz into the White House has been an ongoing project for almost 8 years now. To simply lose it all to a Junior senator not even in Congress a full term yet. Wow
