Just Beautiful Vintage Form

So what do I love most about vintage photography...

Well for starters there was no precedent before it cool...
...or maybe I should correct myself there. There was in fact a precedent, it just happened to be very much of the classical variety (which I love). And the heavy influence shows... each and every one of these shots look like they could be cast in marble and put on display...

Never in a million years could I have fathomed people from decades ago looked this good (thank you internet cool)... This last shot is really the epitome of perfection in simplicity...

Vintage natural beauty

Simplistic, tasteful, powerful and yes indeed beautiful. I love vintage...
...mostly on account of the fact that the shots taken back then were devoid of all the baggage that seems to be associated with similar pictures today. Just beautiful guys displaying their natural looks. We could use more of that today in my opinion.

Vintage Male Art

Total perfection from decades long gone by... although photography has evolved a long way from this time period, the basics never get old... Personally, I think they're as beautiful as ever... (but that's just my humble opinion mrgreen)

In the Hay

There's something to be said about a sexy country guy, just minding his own business, relaxing in the hay (note the towel for added comfort biggrin)... What exactly that something is, I'm not quite sure yet, suffice to say vintage guys are in fact incredibly gorgeous (or should the adjective 'were')... regardless, displaying nice legs is an added bonus for me cool ...

Beauty from a time gone by...

Thanks in large part to modern technology (and aesthetic enthusiasts who've been keen to scan and upload much of their old collections), I've compiled a rather interesting set of vintage physique photography shots... much of which I've yet to add. I recently put a poll up regarding this very topic a couple of days ago and overwhelmingly the consensus was to go ahead and add them.

Vintage is one of my favorite genres of pictures, in that the old photography masters both viewed the male body as the singular focus work of art to be captured in a simple shot, and that they took many of their cues from the ancient Greek and Roman perceptions of perfection (of which I'm very much influenced by)...
I'll be mixing in vintage shots with the standard candid/male model shots from now on. Be forewarned though... much of physique photography was done in the full nude mrgreen.

Vintage Male Beauty

Just gorgeous, vintage photography at times can put even the contemporary stuff to shame. There's so much great stuff out there from collections that people are scanning onto the net. Of all the photography I've been posting, I think the one category that I really haven't showcased all that much is vintage. The ones I do post rarely get any attention though, I'm wondering if I should post a few more of this stuff... I've kind of held back considering they tend to mostly be of the artistic nude variety... Hmm, this sounds like a good idea for a poll wink.

Vintage subject

It's strange, but I've always had a very strong affinity for everything vintage... probably due to the creative simplistic nature of it all mrgreen... Just gorgeous photography without really too much else involved...

For Alan down in Florida: Tribute of Light and Shadow

About a week ago, I received a comment from Alan raising the point that certain photographers tend to tag their pictures as being artistic, when in actuality they're simply taking the lazy route by desaturating the photograph and darkening it/adding shadows... I believe the exact quote verbatim was..."I'm sick and tired of all these artsy fartsy photographers who think that by using black and white or covering the beautiful models in semi-darkness makes it artistic."

Well I agree to a certain degree... but to me, the human body is a work of art... so as you can guess whether the subject is clothed, nude, or whether the photograph is in color or not, I still consider it to be art (so long as it's not blatantly tasteless mrgreen). So I'm dedicating this post specifically to Alan down in Florida. Here's a few of my favorite

Vintage in color...

Perfection, perfection, and yes perfection...
Most vintage tends to be in black and white, but every now and again you run across some that are in color... (either that or they've been colored in manually)...
Just Beautiful... even regardless of the out-of-date landline cool...

Colin Clarke - Vintage Boxer

I've never heard of this boxer before, but boy was he gorgeous... from top to bottom, insane abs, and the best thighs... Vintage models in many respects could give contemporary guys a run for their money...

To say the least eek...

Eric Pedersen - vintage model

1950s physique model, Eric Pedersen...

I love how classic vintage photographers used to shoot their subjects almost like living sculptures.... Beauty in simplicity, definitely a lost art...

Vintage showering

How exactly four guys can manage with one showerhead, I'll never know... Makes for quite an interesting photograph though cool...

Vintage Bums

Up until a few months ago, I was always under the impression that few (if any) gorgeous guys from days gone by, could compare with modern day beautiful men ...
The massive photographic evidence that I've since stumbled upon has proved otherwise...
