Tragedy in SoHo.....

Heath Ledger 1979 - 2008

An incredibly talented yet humble actor has passed away today. Heath Ledger, 28, was found dead in his SoHo apartment in New York. The cause of death is apparently unknown at the moment, although the police have released information that they found bottles of anti-anxiety and sleeping pills at the apartment. An autopsy is to be carried out tomorrow, and his family has already come out with a statement that they do not believe he committed suicide.

Heath first gained wider recognition in Hollywood playing Mel Gibson's son in The Patriot. He followed that up with roles in a Knight's Tale, Monster's Ball and The Brother's Grimm. Heath also starred opposite Jake Gyllenhaal in the groundbreaking and successful, yet highly controversial love story, Brokeback Mountain. Heath was due to star opposite Christian Bale, in the upcoming summer blockbuster The Dark Knight. Following in Jack Nicholson's footsteps from his previous performance back in 1989, Heath was set to play the role of the Joker in this latest adaptation of the popular comic book franchise. Filming for the Dark Knight has already completed and is currently in post-production. For the time being, the movie is still currently set to debut this summer.

Heath will definitely be missed. It's really tragic to lose such a talented actor so soon. His death in my opinion, is eerily reminiscent to that of Brandon Lee's while shooting The Crow back in the mid 90s. Maybe not specifically in manner of death, but more in regards to the type of movie they were shooting at the time of their passing, and the fact that both died at the age of 28. It'll be somewhat strange watching his last performance as the Joker, but probably fitting, seeing as it was meant to be one of the roles that would define his career. Rest in peace Heath Ledger.
