From Japan to SoCal... A Honda Breakthrough

Hydrogen, zero emission, clean, beautiful, sleek and way too sexy... introducing the first true strike against the world's addiction to oil... Honda's gorgeous FCX Clarity. Truly a work of immense craftsmanship.

The Honda Clarity runs on a combination of Hydrogen and Oxygen, supplemented by a lithium ion battery pack, and emits water vapor resulting in zero pollutants to the environment. The car also manages to get about 270 miles per tank, with a hydrogen equivalent 74 miles to the gallon. You can't get any greener than this.
Celebrities and wealthy businessmen have been lining up to get their hands on this exclusive car. Starting in July Honda will be leasing a few dozen of these cars in southern California, followed by a couple more in Japan by the end of the year. They'll be following it up with about 200 more around the world within the next three years.

But before we get ahead of ourselves, there are (as you might've guessed) a couple of essential limitations to note; we are dealing with brand new technology here after all... For starters, the pricing seems to be quite high at the moment... there haven't been too many details released for the time being, but the line-up of celebrities and wealthy business men queuing up to try this car out should be a key indicator as to where the price range lies. Also, the apparent lack of hydrogen fuel stations tends to seriously hamper any expanded attempts at releasing this car to a wider audience.

Nevertheless, although this car is just a first step, it's a remarkably audacious one. Is this really the beginning of the end of gas-powered vehicles? I suppose only time will tell...
